TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Several occurrences of very large hail and apparent tornadoes have been experienced in interior southern Georgia counties near the Flint River. Additional thunderstorms are expected to move east through several more communities through the early and mid-evening hours, with a broader zone of active storms slipping toward the state line counties and the Suwannee River region beyond midnight.
A tornado watch remains in effect for most of our local south Georgia counties, plus most Big Bend counties, and now expires at midnight.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Suwannee and Hamilton counties until 1:00 a.m. for the threat of damaging wind gusts and occasional hail.
Tornado warnings are possible, meaning storms that can create tornadoes have been detected by radar or seen by spotters or law enforcement.
