TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- As of 11:00 AM, we now have a potential tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Basin.
This potential tropical cyclone is just off the west coast of Africa, about 400 east southeast of the Cape Verde Islands. This disturbance is becoming better organized over water, though a defined center is not present at this time.
Winds are sustained at 30 mph while the storm is moving west at 12 mph. Potential tropical cyclone Six is expected to continue moving in this direction with a very gradual turn toward the northwest.
This storm has a 90% chance of development in the next five days, though because the environmental conditions are so favorable, this may become Tropical Storm Florence before the week is over.
