MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

The hot high-pressure area will start to shift and weaken Friday, allowing a disturbance in the southern Plains to move east into the Mississippi Valley Friday.  Its effects on our region will be an initial increase in cloudiness through Friday afternoon and a corresponding decrease in afternoon temperatures.  Lows tonight will fall into the mild low to mid 60s, and highs will be capped in the 80s for most areas because of the thickening cloud cover.  Showers and a few storms may advance toward the tri-state region late Friday afternoon and evening, with more scattered areas of rain and occasional thunder stretching into Saturday morning and afternoon for a broader swath of the area.  Some clouds may linger into Mother’s Day, but any rain activity should conclude by early morning.  No major cool-down is forecast, as daytime temps will rebound into the 90s again next week with another high-pressure system emerging.
