Storm Team Friday morning forecast (02/20/2015)

Posted

TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Bitterly cold air with us this Friday morning. Hard freeze warnings are in effect til 10 am. Make sure to continue to monitor the 4P's: People, pets, plants, and pipes. Temps shattering the old record at TLH, plummeting to the low 20s. (Old record: 27° in 1993.) The Arctic-based high pressure system that is over the region currently will move off the east coast throughout the course of the day and as the winds turn clockwise around the high, we'll begin to get some return flow to end the work week. That will bump afternoon temps into the mid 50s. It'll be cool overnight, but not as cold as we've seen the last couple nights. Expect temps in the mid 30s heading out the door early Saturday but by the afternoon it will be quite mild with highs rebounding into the upper 60s. Even warmer for Sunday as a warm front advances into the region; mid 70s will be likely after church. This front will place us into a more unsettled weather pattern with slight rain chances possible late Sunday and Monday. Next week, expect a few more chances of showers midweek as temps moderate back to the low to mid 60s for highs.
