Storm Team Friday earl afternoon forecast (06/28/2013)

Posted

Some unsettled weather will continue from this morning into the weekend. The morning started off with spotty storms along the coast that were accompanied by frequent lightning. More storms are expected this afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could be severe, and could be capable of heavy downpours, gusty winds, and hail. As of 11:30 AM, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued in portions of southwest Georgia and the Florida Panhandle and is set to expire at 9 PM EDT/ 9 PM CDT. If you are experiencing a thunderstorm, be sure to take shelter in a sturdy building immediately.

Thunderstorms will move form the northwest to the southeast throughout the afternoon and evening. Temperatures in areas that do not experience prolonged rain will still heat up into the upper 80s to lower 90s. Rain chances will remain in place throughout the weekend, as a cold front slowly dips into the southeastern United States. Unsettled air near the system will work together with the sea breeze to increase rain chances, and the rain coverage will be more widespread than what has occurred in previous days.

The Storm Team will keep you updated with the latest weather events.
