Storm Team Friday evening forecast (12/13/2013)

Posted

Passing cloudiness will remain in place tonight, then thickening and increasing through Saturday morning and afternoon ahead of an advancing cold front and low-pressure disturbance.  These will tap into a higher amount of moisture flowing in on southerly winds to produce significantly higher chances for rain, downpours, and a few thunderstorms, focusing on the Saturday afternoon through early Sunday time frame.  Many areas are likely to receive a half-inch to one inch of rain during the event, with locally higher amounts exceeding two inches.  Severe weather chances are low, but a few stronger storms may cause gusty winds.  Lows tonight will fall to the lower 50s early, rising toward 60° by sunrise, and into the low to mid 70s in the afternoon.  The system will depart on Sunday, with gradual clearing and colder temperatures in its wake.  The first half of next week will feature sunshine and cool conditions.
