Storm Team Friday evening forecast (05/31/2013)

Posted

Similar to yesterday, a few spots of showers, localized downpours, or thunder are possible through mid-evening, developing from the daytime heating and the abundance of moisture.  These features won’t change very much over the weekend.  If anything, we may have better opportunities for areas of rain and storms with the influence of a cold front creeping into the Deep South.  There’s not a great chance of it sweeping through the area, so temperature forecasts will remain near or just a bit above average into next week.  Then, we’ll monitor a swath of tropical moisture in the southern Gulf, showing some tendency to drift north or northeastward, which may increase rain chances about a week from there.  There’s plenty of time to monitor its progress and development, though.  Lows tonight will fall to around 70° as highs rebound into the lower 90s both Saturday and Sunday.
