ABC 27 goes 'On the Road' to Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — ABC 27's On the Road neighborhood tour continues in Valdosta. First to Know Chief Meteorologist Casanova Nurse, Channing Frampton, Malia Thomas and AJ Douglas are in the Azalea City Friday showcasing what the community is all about. Valdosta State University is hosting a live broadcast of our evening news at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. as the fall semester gets started.

According to Lowndes County Historical Society, Valdosta's nickname, the Azalea City, is because of one man, Richard J. Drexel.The title of Azalea City was not officially proposed until 1947 by the garden clubs of Valdosta, according to the historical society.
