VALDOSTA, GA. — Valdosta State University is sending out the next generation into the real world to be the change.

This evening, hundreds of grads were honored at the school's 227th commencement ceremony.

Among the students honored were honor graduates and Air Force ROTC cadets.

A total of six colleges at VSU were recognized throughout the ceremony.

Georgia's Governor Brian Kemp gave the key note speech, hoping to inspire the graduates.

"Build on your greatness that you've achieved here this evening. Identify and tackle the great challenges you have ahead. Come together no matter your differences for the betterment of this community, state, and country," Brian Kemp said.

In opposition of the governor, some protesters lined the streets outside the college hoping to have their voices heard.
