LAUREL, MT (KULR/CNN) - A town in Montana came together to help a stranger find his dog.

John Wilson was headed to Alaska from Texas, and stopped in Montana to rest.

His dog Holly got away from him and was hit by a vehicle and ran off.

Local businesses and the police posted flyers, then strangers stopped to help look.

Holly was finally found by security officers near a refinery and was taken to a local veterinary hospital.

"It's really important to me to say thank you to the community here in laurel and also the employees at the refinery as well. They were all very helpful," Wilson said.

Holly suffered a bad cut on her right leg as well as other minor cuts on her body, but she's well enough to continue on to Alaska.
