Wes Hart joins FSU soccer staff

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State University and Seminole women’s soccer head coach Mark Krikorian announced the hiring of Wes Hart as an assistant coach.  Hart’s primary responsibilities with the Seminoles will include planning the offensive attack, assisting with player development and video analysis along with other recruiting and scouting duties.

Hart replaces former assistant Morinao Imaizumi who returned to Japan and his role with the JFA in January after spending two seasons as an assistant with the Seminoles.

“Wes brings an exceptional soccer background to Florida State,” said head coach Mark Krikorian. “He has gained a great deal of experience during his time with one of the best club teams in nation, in the Colorado Rush, and has coached several Youth National Team players.

“Philosophically, we see eye to eye on how the game of soccer should be played.  I am excited for Wes to come in and add some new dimensions to our staff.  He will make a great contribution to help build our team moving forward.”

“I am thrilled to be a Seminole,” said Hart. “In my short time around coach Krikorian, it’s not hard to see why FSU is considered one of the top college soccer programs in the country. I am excited for the opportunity to learn and grow under Mark’s leadership, while at the same time offering my knowledge and experience to the program.”

A native of Littleton, Colo., Hart comes to Tallahassee after spending eight years (2005-12) in a variety of roles with the Colorado Rush, one of the premier soccer clubs in the country.  In his last three years with the Rush, Hart held the title of Director of Coaching Academy where he oversaw the ECNL teams on the girls side and the US Development Academy teams on the boys side.

During his time with the Rush, Hart was involved in four national championships including three as an assistant and one as head coach.  In the summer of 2012, he led the U-15 girls squad to the club’s first ever ECNL Championship.  Hart has coached several US Youth National Team players including Lindsey Horan, who now plays for PSG in France.  He also tutored former Seminole standouts Sarah Wagenfuhr and Erika Sutton.
