On July 23, in the first game of a triple header for the Riverdogs, Deckert pitched an outstanding seven-inning, complete game shutout, allowing only one hit and two walks while striking out five in Vienna’s 5-0 win over the Silver Spring T-Bolts.

In his other outing for the week, Deckert pitched three solid innings in relief, allowing only one hit, no walks and striking out two, though it came in his team’s 7-4 loss to the Gaithersburg Giants.

Deckert finished the 2013 summer season with a 2-0 record, 1.44 ERA and 13 strikeouts, pitching primarily out of the Riverdogs’ bullpen.

Deckert was joined on the Vienna roster by Tallahassee teammates Chad Mabini and Bobby Rice.
