Seminole soccer's Brynjarsdottir heads to Algarve Cup

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Dagny Brynjarsdottir is headed to Portugal to play with the Icelandic Full National Team at the 2013 Algarve Cup.  Competition begins Wednesday, March 6 with the finals to take place a week later on March 13.

 

Iceland will play in Group B with the United States, Sweden and China PR.  Brynjarsdottir and the Icelandic team will open the Algarve Cup against the USA on March 6 at 9:00 a.m. inside Estádio Municipal in Albufeira, Portugal.

 

Iceland will face Sweden at 1:00 p.m. on March 8 and will then conclude group play against China PR on Monday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. (Nora Sports Complex; Ferrieras, Portugal).

 

Brynjarsdottir has tallied 23 caps with the full national team and has scored three goals. Her biggest goal came last fall in the second-leg against the Ukraine as she broke a 2-2 tie scoring the go-ahead goal in the 76th minute to help Iceland seal a 6-4 aggregate victory.  The win propelled Iceland into this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO which begins July 10.
