TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - After five seasons at Maclay, football coach Kyler Hall stepped down for the head coaching job at Suwannee, his alma mater.
The Marauders took their time in finding a new head coach, and in April, they announced that Lance Ramer would take over the reigns of the program.
On Monday, Ramer formally introduced as head coach, coming to Tallahassee from the New York City area. He comes into his new position with 14 years of coaching experience, eight as a head coach.
"I'm all about the people. You got a sense right away about what they're about, a sense of family, welcoming all of us," he said of his new gig at Maclay. "My wife and I when we first came down to interview, you could tell it was a place where you want to be around and have your kids grow. That's what sort of attracted us right away."
Maclay will be playing independently this season, but Ramer said they will still be a competitive ball team.
"It's all about setting the foundation for the future. No bones about it, we're going to attempt to win every football game," he said. "If they're going to keep score, we're going to try to win, but we're going to do it the right way and understand it's a process. We're building for the future."
The Marauders have just three seniors on this team, something Ramer said is crucial in building for that future. Maclay opens up the 2016 season at home against Munroe on August 19th.
