FSU Baseball faces JU Wednesday at 4 pm

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 9 Florida State (3-0) will look to build off its opening weekend series sweep of Rhode Island on Wednesday, February 20 when the Seminoles welcome Jacksonville (1-2) to Tallahassee for the first of two meetings between these intra-state rivals. 

Wednesday afternoon’s game marks the 157th all-time meeting between these two schools as FSU leads the all-time series 119-37.  The Seminoles enter the game winners of five straight over the Dolphins including three in a row in Tallahassee.

Justin Gonzalez has fared well against JU over his career as the senior captain has hit .412 in seven games with seven hits including a home run.  Jose Brizuela batted .400 in two games, while John Nogowski went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in his only game against the Dolphins last year.

The series has been closely contested as of late with 12 of the last 18 games decided by three runs or less including seven of the last eight.

The Seminoles swept the season series in 2012 claiming a 16-9 victory at home followed by a 3-0 shutout in Jacksonville.
