TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - It's not everyday a new college football program comes along. On Monday in Tallahassee, Keiser University made a pit stop in town for night one of a statewide tour promoting their new squad, which is set to play it's inaugural season in the fall of 2018.
Doug Socha, the program's first coach, spoke to area coaches, administrators, and city leaders at the gathering. He expects over 100 kids to practice with the team this fall, a fall where they'll get acclimated to college life and playing college football, and he can't wait to get started.
"It's a tremendous opportunity and I'm honored and privileged to be a part of this thing at the ground zero and to build it.," he said. "We have a great team. Keiser University knows how to do education. Certainly there's sports that compete at a high level and now here we are in Florida. I can't really describe it. It's an awesome deal."
