THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — High school basketball is officially underway across the Big Bend and South Georgia, and the Thomasville boys basketball team has something to prove.
The guys fell in the second round of the play-offs last season, a loss they felt was too early given how talented their team was.
Some good news? The Bulldogs lost just two seniors off that squad. All of their leading scorers are back. Head coach Ben Tillman is a realist though. He said COVID-19 and the restrictions that came with it has put a damper on where they are as a unit. With the lack of a summer to gel, he's waiting for this team to come together, but says he's excited for when they do.
"We have a young team, a seasoned team, but still yet mixed with some young players," he said. "I have to start two sophomores this year and I have a couple freshman I like a lot. We're just going to work with it. We'll just continue to work those kids and hopefully we'll be able to reach those goals."
Thomasville returns to action Friday, December 4th when they play at Cairo.
