TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The saying, 'good things come to those who wait' couldn't resonate more for Logan Roberts who graduated from Saint John Paul II in Tallahassee in 2019 and took this year to hone his talents and earn a baseball scholarship to South Georgia State.
Roberts had no offers coming out of high school when he graduated in 2019, but he didn't take that as defeat. He took it as motivation.
The shortstop joined Southern Ball Academy and four days a week he trained for four hours a day perfecting his craft. He tried out with the Hawks this summer and they said he was the perfect fit.
The rest is history. Roberts is now a college baseball player.
"I'm pretty sure it'll sink in with me when I go to the school but not quite yet," said Roberts. "I never really imagined myself to be in this scenario. Seeing all the support from people and South Georgia State has given me, it really means a whole lot to me. I'm just really grateful for this opportunity."
Roberts said his motivation through his journey was everyone who doubted him.
He says he wants to study either computer science or business.
