GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — At Gadsden County, social distancing was not going to get in the way of an exciting day for girls basketball standout Aniya Austin.
Austin signed with Andrew College Tuesday in front of family and friends.
The guard debated playing basketball at the next level but after talking with her peers, and a lot of self-reflection, she said she couldn't pass up the opportunity to
continue her career at the next level.
"It's a lot of people who are looking up towards me, especially younger people," said Austin. "I'm ready to put on a show and ready to rep my city. It's very special. I'm ready to see what the next level will be like with the experience and the support system behind me."
Austin said she is studying towards a business degree and one day wants to start her own clothing brand.
