TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — High school girls soccer teams in Florida are in sweet sixteen play, and three Big Bend teams are still in the hunt for a state championship.
Florida High punched their ticket to Friday's regional semifinal with a regional quarterfinal win on Wednesday night over Pensacola Catholic. They'll now face an undefeated South Walton team at home. The Seminoles are a young squad, but they've been improving all season, and are ready for this moment.
"It's been a lot of reminders of don't give up on me," said head coach Victoria Sachs. "Don't give up on each other. Being and feeling like the world is out to get us and the world is against us, especially with a losing record this season, you have nothing to lose. All you can do is go up from there. They've really taken that mentality and just continued to push forward. I'm proud of them for that."
Florida High hosts South Walton Friday in the regional semifinals at 7:00. A win puts them in the elite eight.
