CAIRO, GA — Yesterday was a great night of high school football for a few of our local teams in Southern Georgia and maybe the biggest statement was made by Cairo.

The Syrupmakers defense pitched their first shutout of the season, en route to a 37-0 win over West Laurens High School. The AAAA region one runner ups were firing on all cylinders and head coach Steve DeVourseny had nothing but praise for his team following their performance.

“Well you know, first round of the playoffs you want to play your best game and that’s what we did. Offense did a good job getting the ball to different people, spreading it around," says Cairo head coach Steve DeVoursney. "Offensive line did a great job and our defense got us our first shutout of the year to start the playoffs. Noah Jones and our special teams did a great job.”
