BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — It’s a big weekend of high football in the Big Bend area and South Georgia. In class AAAA, the Bainbridge Bearcats find themselves one win away from their second state championship appearance in the last three seasons.

2018 was a season this year’s senior class remembers fondly after capturing the illustrious AAAAA state title.

Finding themselves one game away from playing for another championship, Bainbridge will have to get by the number one seed in region six and undefeated Marist at home Friday night.

It’s far from uncharted territory for this team to be playing this late in the season; however, that's why head coach Jeff Littleton is confident his team will continue to rise to the occasion.

“Our senior class were all sophomores back in 2018, and they played a lot of games that year. So they have a lot of experience playing after the regular season, and the playoff season is like a second regular season," said Littleton. "So they’re getting that many more reps, and that means they’re getting better.”

The Bearcats and Marist kickoff Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Bainbridge.
