TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State freshman Mavin Bracy has been selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week following his victory in the 60-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational.

Bracy claimed the title in an NCAA-leading and Florida State school record time of 6.54 seconds in the finals at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark. The Orlando, Fla. native is unbeaten through six rounds of 60-meter competition this season and run the fastest time among NCAA athletes in three of six heats.  His winning time shaved .01 off the FSU record, previously held by Olympian and multi-time All-American Maurice Mitchell (6.55, 2011), and is tied for the United State lead this year (with 2012 Olympian Mike Rogers). The mark also ranks fourth in the world in 2013.

It marks the second ACC weekly honor of the season for Bracy and the third for the Seminoles.

Bracy edged Florida State teammate Dentarius Locke (6.56) in the Tyson Invitational final. Locke’s time ranks second-fastest among NCAA athletes this season.

The Seminoles return to the track Feb. 21-23 for the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Blacksburg, Va.
