TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said the No. 2/3-ranked Seminoles are well rested heading into Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. game against NC State in Doak Campbell Stadium.
Following last weekend’s commanding 51-14 victory at then- No.3/4 Clemson, FSU took Sunday off and, after returning late, cut back on Monday’s practice. Fisher said the team gradually picked it up and had great practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
Last season, an undefeated Florida State team fell to the Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C., 17-16. Since then, the Seminoles have won 10 consecutive games against ACC opponents with an average margin of victory being a whopping 42.5 points.
On Saturday, not only will the Seminoles look to extend their ACC win streak to 11 games, they will also look to move to 7-0 for just the ninth time in school history.
FSU will also be honoring legendary former head coach Bobby Bowden, too. Bowden guided the Seminoles to seven of those previous 7-0 starts.
The winningest head coach in FBS history (377 wins), Bowden returns to the field that bears his name for the first time since he retired following the 2009 season. He coached the Seminoles from 1976-2009 and won two national championships, 12 ACC titles and took FSU to 31 bowl games.
Fisher said he couldn’t be happier and excited to have Bowden back at Doak Campbell Stadium.
“There’s no one who appreciates it any more than I do,” Fisher said. “There will be a lot of excitement right now for him and there always has been from my part. I love him; he’s the greatest of all time – very happy that he is getting acknowledged the way he should be.”
