TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - This weekend is a busy one for Florida State athletics. Perhaps the most sentimental event going on will happen at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center, as the men's and women's tennis teams host the 2nd Annual Military Appreciation Day before matches with the Naval Academy and The Citadel.

The family of Speicher will be honored during the pre-match ceremony, as the Center's namesake was that United States' first casualty in the Persian Gulf War, and Florida State is happy to give back.

"When we started this whole thing, and you realize Scott Speicher, our facility is named after him, leaving his legacy here at this facility, it's only right to continue to recognize him, his legacy, his family, and his sacrifice," said women's head coach Jennifer Hyde.

"We appreciate that and we want to make that a lasting legacy here," agreed men's coach Dwayne Hultquist. "We want to reach out to all the people in the Panhandle of Florida just to support the Panhandle and their families and let them know we appreciated everything they do."

Saturday's ceremony starts at 11:00 a.m.
