Florida A&M downs Marshall 4-3 in season opener

Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida A&M (1-0) defeated Marshall (0-1) 4-3 in the 2015 season opener at Moore-Kittles Field. Marlon Gibbs, who went 3-for-4, scored the game winning run from third, in the bottom of the eighth inning, on an error by Herd center fielder Corey Bird that would have ended the inning. The Rattler pitching staff was strong only allowing one hit over the final four innings with no walks on the day.

Reliever Brandon Fleming (1-0) earned the win for FAMU after working two innings in relief, allowing one run with two strikeouts. Junior RHP Kenny McDonald earned the save while working a scoreless ninth inning.

These two teams will return to the field on Saturday with a first pitch at 1:00.
