TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The first day of non-contact football practice for high schools in the state of Florida is July 30th, and FAMU DRS is ready to get after it.
The Baby Rattlers were 6-5 last year, made the postseason, and are ready for the same success.
There is a ton of excitement around this program too. Second year head coach, and DRS alum Cedric Jones wanted to capitalize on that. So on Wednesday, the Baby Rattlers hosted their own media day.
New uniforms were revealed and Championship banners unveiled. A lot of new and exciting things are happening at DRS, and all that along with a tough schedule has everyone ready to suit up and play.
"We're featuring a big team from Texas that's coming in that's featuring Deion's (Sanders) son, that'll be a hype game," he said. "We have the top qualifier in 3A, they're coming into town, Clearwater Central Catholic. We always have North Florida Christian, that's always contentious. I think it's going to be fun because the competition is going to be a lot better and it's going to have to make a statement or we have to go home for the year."
FAMU DRS opens the regular season August 24th at Franklin County.
