VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The Valdosta State men's basketball squad is now ranked 12th in the country. They are also on a serious win streak rattling off 13 straight wins this season.
Last year, the Blazers were dominant in one or two positions. According to head coach Mike Helfer, this year's team has players who can contribute on any given night. That is just one reason for the team's success.
"Our collaboration as a team has been what is effective for us because on some nights, if somebody doesn't play well, somebody else plays well," explained Helfer. "That's what I like most about this team."
Clay Guillozet, a senior guard on the team added that he likes how he and his team bring it each and every day. "We're coming out and competing every night, taking scouting report, putting that into play. Everybody is buying in to what we're doing. We're relying on one another, nobody is gonna go off and do their own thing. We're just playing Valdosta State basketball."
