VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State football team looked pretty good in their home debut over the weekend. Head coach Gary Goff said he is happy with their progress, but it won't get any easier, as West Alabama comes to Titletown this weekend.
This game is a match-up of number one versus number 20, and West Alabama also marks the start of Gulf South play for the top ranked Blazers. Coach Goff notes the Tigers is good in all three phases of the game. They blocked three punts last week. Saturday will be a challenge, but one coach says his guys are ready for.
"It's going to be a very intense game, it's two very good football teams," he said Wednesday. "It's going to come down to who protects the football, who wins that turnover battle, and who executes at a high level but they like to mix things up. They pressure you a lot on defense. They tempo you on offense, they throw a lot of different hings at you on special teams. They're very well coached and they have the talent to give you some fits."
Saturday's game is set for a 7:00 kick at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
