Valdosta State is working hard in Winnersville

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State Blazers are two weeks into fall camp and less than three weeks out from game number one. So far, first year head coach Gary Goff likes what he sees, but notes if they were to suit up for a game right now, they wouldn't be ready.

The good news? The effort is most definitely there. They're still perfecting technique and still fighting to become a championship caliber football team. Even better news? This team is loaded, and their depth will definitely be a strength this fall.

"Our receivers, we are two deep there too. And they're going to play a lot, a lot of rotating in and out. The secondary is like that, we've probably got about 7-8 DBs that can play at any moment," said Goff. "There's not a lot of difference to be honest. There might be a few calls or plays that this young man is better at than the other one, but the other one might be better at something than he is. So, I think that's what excites us as coaches, we have depth."

Valdosta State will have their second scrimmage of fall practice this Saturday.
