VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State football team is red hot to potential recruits right now, as that's what a National Championship will do for you. That was evident Thursday, as over 800 rising ninth through 12 graders from across the Southeast, even as far away as St. Louis, came to Titletown for Valdosta State's "Titletown Showcase".
The kids were put through combine like agility drills, then they showed off their skill set in front of coaches from Valdosta State, Steston, Samford, and Tennessee, just to name a few. The event was obviously good to showcase Valdosta State, and even better for the kids.
"I've been in a lot of D1 schools and haven't had this kind of turnout," laughed Valdosta State head coach Gary Goff. "We're very fortunate because of our location. We're in the hotbed of footblal in South Georgia. A lot of Florida comes up to it obviously, so it's a huge, huge reason why this is such a special place because we have this type of talent in our backyard."
