Valdosta State faces familiar foe in second round play

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The thing about being the number one team in the country? Everyone is gunning for you. Valdosta State is the reigning division two national champs, and the road to defending that National title? It begins this weekend for the Blazers.

Valdosta State is facing a familiar opponent in West Florida, as the Argos are in the Gulf South Conference and VSU just played them earlier this month. Not ideal, but head coach Gary Goff insists a good team is a good team, and they have to be ready for anyone every week.

"It just so happens it'll be the second time we've played them in our last three games, but it's okay," he said Tuesday. "They are very good, without a doubt. I think we're very good. It should be another terrific football game. Once you get to postseason play like this, everybody on your schedule is going to be a very, very good football team."

Saturday's match-up is set for a 1:00 kick in Valdosta.
