Tallahassee men celebrate Panhandle Conference title, but aren't satisfied

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - 2001 was the last time Tallahassee Community College won a Panhandle Conference title outright in men's hoops. That all changed Wednesday night, when the Eagles sealed up the 2020 Conference crown.

Their work is not done yet. TCC looks to finish the regular season slate strong Saturday night at Gulf Coast, then they're looking to bring a State title, and a National title, home to Tallahassee. They admit there is a lot of work still left to do, but it feels good to accomplish what they have so far.

"We know this is just one step on the path," said first year head coach Zach Settembre. "It's unbelievable to hang a banner, it'll be even better if we can win the State Tournament and get a second banner, and maybe a third when we head to Hutch (for Nationals)."

"We're all just as hungry as the coaching staff," added freshman guard El Ellis. "We have a great coaching staff and we want to win for them, just as much as we want to do for ourselves. We know how much he's put into this program and the culture and everything so it's been great."

The Eagle ladies tip at 5:00 at Gulf Coast on Saturday, the men follow.
