PENSACOLA, Fl. - (tcceagles.com) — (February 27, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team went on the road and picked up a big 71-47 victory at Pensacola State College on Saturday evening.
Tallahassee improved to 12-2 overall with the win. More importantly, the Eagles are now 6-2 at the halfway point of the Panhandle Conference schedule and tied with Chipola College for first place in the league standings.
Tallahassee and Chipola have a two-game lead over third-place Pensacola State (4-4) and are four games ahead of both Northwest Florida State College (2-6) and Gulf Coast State College (2-6).
The Eagles all but led wire-to-wire on Saturday. After Pensacola State scored the first basket of the game, Tallahassee answered with a 12-0 run and was never seriously threatened the rest of the night.
The lead was 12 (32-20) at the half and as the clock ticked past the midway point of the second half, DeAngelo Ware’s step back three beat the shot clock and put the Eagles in front, 51-34.
Jeremiah Kendall led a quartet of Eagles in double-figures with 20 on 9-of-11 shooting. Shawn Walker and El Ellis had 14 points each and Ware tossed in 11.
The Eagles will return to play next Saturday when round three of Panhandle Conference play begins at Gulf Coast State College.
