TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TCC Athletics) — Tallahassee Community College's baseball team swept a doubleheader from Thomas (Ga.) University's JV squad on Monday, winning the scores of 9-1 and 6-1.

The sweep moved Tallahassee to 5-4 on the season.

The Eagles' pitchers stole the show on Monday, combining to strike out 33 batters over the two games.

Game one starter Patrick Libby (2-0) struck out 12 of the 18 batters he faced in five innings of work. Relievers Joey Garrett and Albert Padron recorded two strikeouts apiece.

In game two, Jude Ard struck out eight over 3.2 innings. Jacob Estes (1-0) struck out six of the nine batters he faced, and Carlos Rodriguez struck out the side in the seventh to close a 17-strikeout effort.

In the opener, after Tallahassee scored a run in its first at-bat, Bryson Kirksey singlehandedly padded the lead. He smacked two-run triples and later scored in both the second and fourth innings. By that point, the Eagles' lead was up to 7-0.

Kirksey finished 3-for-3, scored three runs and drove in four.

Trent Jeffcoat finished the scoring with a two-run homer in the sixth, capping a 4-for-4 game, 4-RBI game.

Libby, meanwhile, was perfect through 3.2 innings before Seth Kipper's solo homer got the Night Hawks on the board.

In game two, the Eagles trailed 1-0 before tying the game in the third and taking the lead an inning later on Orlando Adams' sac-fly that scored Nick Vera.

Vera doubled home two runs in the fifth and later scored on Stan King's single to open a 5-1 lead.

Tallahassee added an insurance run in the sixth when Julian Barcelo scored on a passed ball.

The Eagles will travel to Gainesville, Fla., on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game at Santa Fe College.
