TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TCC Athletics) — Tallahassee Community College’s women’s basketball team fell to Pensacola State College on Saturday, 68-54, in Panhandle Conference action.

Tallahassee is now 1-5 overall and 0-4 in PC play.

The Eagles trailed just 14-9 after one quarter and were within seven, 29-22, following Ana Nikulochkina’s three-pointer at the 3:44 mark of the second. Pensacola State, however, closed the first half on a 14-4 run and led, 43-26, at the half.

The Pirates extended their lead to 20 (46-26) early in the third quarter before Tallahassee mounted a comeback. The Eagles held Pensacola State to just two made field goals in the third – and only one over the final nine minutes. Meanwhile, 10-1 run on the offensive end to close the quarter left the Eagles with a 52-42 deficit heading to the fourth.

Polina Nikulochkina’s three with 1:42 left trimmed the Pirates’ lead to 63-54, but that’s as close as the Eagles got.

Polina led the Eagles with 15 points while Ana had 14.

Tallahassee will have a week off before returning to play at 3 p.m., February 20 against Gulf Coast State College.
