TALLAHASSEE, Fl - WTXL — In the Big Bend another high-caliber college basketball program finds themselves gearing up for their long-awaited season opener.

The Eagles of Tallahassee Community College open up their 2021 campaign for a national title January 20th against South Georgia Technical College. Fans will see some new faces on this year’s squad as the Eagles return just one sole player from the 2019-2020 team. Despite the roster changes this team believes it still has what it takes to make a deep run into the national tournament. Something that was taken away from last season’s team after an abrupt end to their season because of Covid-19. A testament to the guys head coach Zach Settembre has brought into the program.

“We say culture over everything. We try to find the right guys to come in with the mindset of work over everything. We got a lot of guys who are very hungry, we have a lot of guys who understand Tallahassee is the means to an end," Settembre tells ABC 27. "We have guys from division one, guys from division two, transfers from other junior colleges. I think our success is based on we've recruited great players but the right players. Guys that have talent and character. Guys that understand that when they step in between the lines, again we’re trying to win the national championship," he adds. "So our goal is high, our aspirations are to be the best that we can be and we’re unapologetically trying to be the best every time we step in between the lines.”
