TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 12, 2019) – Playing its final home game before the holiday break, NJCAA No. 8/Region 8 No. 1 Tallahassee Community College cruised to a 92-52 win over Albany (Ga.) Technical College on Thursday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.
Tallahassee has won six straight games to improve to 13-1 on the season.
The Eagles wasted no time taking control on Thursday. Behind a barrage of three-pointers, they scored the first 12 points and raced out to a 21-2 lead less than six minutes into the game.
With contributions from four different players – El Ellis, Tariq Silver, DeAndre Gholston and DeAndre Robinson – Tallahassee connected on five of its first eight three-pointers during the opening surge. Silver connected on four more shots from long distance in the opening half, including one to push the Eagles' lead to 51-21 with 2:18 left in the first half.
Tallahassee, who hit 10-of-21 attempts from long distance during the first half, led 54-25 at the break.
The Eagles put things in cruise control in the second half, and head coach Zach Settembre substituted freely with the annual Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout on the horizon.
Silver, who finished with a game-high 24 points, connected on his sixth three-pointer of the game to give Tallahassee its largest lead, 92-46, with 4:07 left in the game.
Four other players joined Silver in double digits, including Guest who recorded a double-double – 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Gholston finished with 17 points while Ellis had 11 and Hester, 10.
Tallahassee will open the Florida Shootout against Broward College at 3 p.m. Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.
