TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A little more than 48 hours after a Saturday's overtime win over Wake Forest, the Florida State men's basketball team was back at it again. The Seminoles hosted seventh ranked Virginia Monday night.
Virginia never had a shot. The Seminoles went on a 28 to 5 run in the first half and never looked back, winning 81 to 60. It was a big win for this team, and a win that head coach Leonard Hamilton credits to the hustle his guys showed both offensively and defensively against a Virginia team that's set the standard in the ACC as of late. Now, he just wants that effort from this team in every game.
"We have to find a way to come out and play with this level of focus every night," said Hamilton. "We had a five game stretch where I thought we did that. We had a couple game stretch where I thought we took a step back. I'm hoping now, our challenge is to see how close we can come to maintaining this and beyond. I think we're capable of playing better than we played tonight. I think we have potential we haven't tapped into yet."
Florida State returns to action Saturday when they host Virginia Tech.
