Florida A&M's Desir scores 18 as second half rally comes up short against A&T

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FAMU ATHLETICS) — Senior center, Evins Desir scored a game-high 18 points in Florida A&M's 70-63 Senior Night loss to North Carolina A&T in the Al Lawson Center on Sunday afternoon.

The loss snapped a 12-game home winning streak by the Rattlers.

The Aggies had a big first half, building a 30-13 lead with 3:18 left. The Rattlers trailed 35-22 going into halftime.

In the second half, A&T (9-10, 5-1 MEAC) built its largest lead of the contest, 48-27, with 15:57 left.

FAMU (5-9, 4-3 MEAC) found its footing in second frame, chopping the Aggie lead down to just six, 62-56, with 2:19 remaining. A&T kept the Rattlers at arm length to hold on to victory.

Evins Desir added five rebounds and two assists to go along with his 18 points.

Freshman guard Jalen Speer had a big game, contributing 16 points with seven assists, three rebounds and one steal.

Coming off of a double-double against A&T in Saturday's matchup, Bryce Moragne nearly notched another one. The senior forward from Tampa, Fla. scored 15 points with nine rebounds, three steals and one assist.

As a team, FAMU shot 39.7 percent from the field (23-of-58) while A&T hit 37.7 percent of its shots (23-of-61).

FAMU travels to Orangeburg, S.C. to take on South Carolina State in another MEAC Southern Division battle on Thursday. It will be the first of three consecutive contests that the Rattlers and Bulldogs will play against each other. Tip-off for Thursday's matchup is set for 6 p.m.
