DELAND, Fla. (FAMU ATHLETICS) — The Florida A&M baseball team dropped both games of a series finale doubleheader, 3-1 and 6-0, versus Stetson on Sunday afternoon at Melching Field at Conrad Park in Deland, Fla.
Game 1
Chandellor Benton got the start for the FAMU in the first game. He worked three innings giving up two on just one hit while striking out six batters. Benton allowed four Hatters to reach base on balls.
LJ Bryant put the Rattlers up early, drilling a pitch past second base and scoring Octvien Moyer to give the Rattlers a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Bryant went 4-for-4 with one RBI.
However, after tying the game at 1 on a bases loaded walk, a wild pitch led to Stetson taking 2-1 lead.
The Hatters scored their final run on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Hylton in fifth inning.
Stetson starting pitcher Chris Gonzalez pitched seven innings, striking out 10 Rattlers while giving up six hits and one earned run.
Game 2
In the series finale, FAMU found itself in an eerily similar situation as Saturday nights contest in which hits and runs were hard to come by.
The Rattlers were only able to muster three hits in the losing effort.
FAMU starter Khalil Wilson allowed three earned runs on two hits in two innings of work.

FAMU travels to Tampa, Fla. on Friday to begin a four game weekend series against the South Florida Bulls. The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday afternoon with first pitch set for 1 p.m. All games in the series will be streamed on ESPN+.
