TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - One of Florida State’s most prominent athletic traditions will take to the road for the first time as FSU student veterans bring the Seminole Spirit Drum to the FSU-Clemson game.

The nearly 8-foot tall drum, which Florida State fans play for hours by prior to each home game, will be located in the tailgating area Clemson University sets aside for fans of visiting schools.

“It’s a huge responsibility for student veterans caravanning to the game to both transport the drum and defend its honor, if you will, at this big away game,” said Ryan Taylor, president of the FSU Collegiate Veterans Association.

Florida State fans attending the game will assist student veterans in keeping the Spirit Drum beat going for several hours prior to kickoff.

“FSU fans just need to listen for that familiar rhythm and join us in heightening our Seminole pride and spirit until kickoff,” said Taylor.
