TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Robert Saltarelli spent more than 100 hours on his piece "The Evening Sun" which is sitting in the heart of the lobby of the new Hyatt House Hotel in Railroad Square.
"Of course I was excited to get the call from Hyatt, but also challenged," said Saltarelli.
The Hyatt House is buying pieces from local artists to help support its new community.
"Supporting our neighbors is huge," said General Manager of the Hyatt House Bo Schmitz.
Schmitz said they're thankful for the support Railroad Square has shown them since opening up last Wednesday.
"All of the local artists have been visiting the hotel to see their art, but also stay at the hotel," said Schmitz. "There's just been a lot of great support from all of our neighbors."
Artists aren't the only ones Hyatt is helping.
The hotel is helping to drive more customers to nearby businesses. They've been buying gift cards for their new guest to eat at, like Railroad Square Craft House.
"We absolutely love it. We see how it can bring more traffic down to all of these local businesses and when tourism dollars come into your city it helps your city grow," said Justine Spells of the craft house.
The Hyatt House has 120 rooms and is within walking distance of the various art studios and the art park.
