WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Fire Rescue celebrated the groundbreaking of their newest fire station Friday.
The new building combines three different locations into one.
They're replacing an old EMS station, moving staff out of the volunteer station, and putting the administrative staff inside the new building.
This new building is more centrally located and will be large enough to comfortably house everything the multiple agencies need on a daily basis.
"It's a pretty emotional thing for a lot of our staff because some of us have been moved around quite a few times just getting shifted to different facilities. It's really exciting. It's huge," said Louis Lamarche, the chief of the Wakulla County Fire Rescue. "And it's big for the citizens. This will affect some of the insurance rates for citizens. "
Residents can also expect even faster response times thanks to the centralized location.
