VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--G.I. Jobs magazine has named Valdosta State University as a 2015 Military Friendly School.

VSU has received the honor for the last five years.

The recognition salutes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools for their efforts in helping people including veterans and active duty pursue a college degree.

VSU President William J. McKinney says VSU has degree programs that meet the needs of those working and going to school simultaneously.

He says he's proud the university is making a difference in the lives of service members.

McKinney says is a big benefit to the military and veteran students is the Office of Adult and Military Programs. He says the staff helps students to transition from military to college life.
