Valdosta Fire Department temporarily closes station

Posted

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Fire Department is temporarily closing Fire Station 3, which is located at 1611 Ulmer Drive, because of renovations, according to city officials.

Engine 3, normally housed at Station 3, will be relocated to Station 1 at 106 South Oak Street.

Renovations to the roof and ceilings will start Saturday, June 7.

"Repairs are expected to be complete in two weeks, during this time we will continue to respond to emergencies in the area quickly and safely," said Valdosta Fire Chief Freddie Broome. "We should still be able to get to people in a short amount of time and they should see no reduction in the quality of the city’s public safety services."

For assistance during the closure, residents can visit Station 1 or call 911 in the event of an emergency.
