The University of Alabama has released a statement, after a video circulated of an alleged UA student harming a cat.
We are aware of a video depicting animal cruelty. The individual has been referred to law enforcement and UA's Office of Student Conduct.

The alleged abuse was posted on YouTube. According to the person who posted it, the cat had made a stain on the bed, and was being punished.
In the video, the man can be seen holding the cat by the throat and head, and beating it with a belt.

Tuscaloosa News reports police are investigating, but no arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning.
