TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities have arrested a second Tallahassee man for the shooting and beating of a victim on Dent Street.

Andre Katerious McKenzie, 26, was booked into jail on Thursday and faces a charge of attempted pre-meditated homicide.

His half-brother, D' Andre Montana McKenzie, 23, was arrested previously in connection with the incident and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

On Nov. 6, 2018, Tallahassee Police Department officers found the victim, Malcolm Shabazz, lying on the front porch of a Dent Street residence.

Shabazz' gunshot injuries to his back, thigh and an arm were once described as life-threatening, but later the hospital listed him in stable condition.

Witnesses told police the victim and suspects had had a physical altercation the previous night and, on the morning of Nov. 6, the suspects found Shabazz near a Dent Street residence.

Confronting the victim, D'Andre K. McKenzie beat him with a golf club, one witness said.

Another witness said Andre McKenzie shot Shabazz multiple times.

 

 

TPD: Man arrested in Dent Street shooting, his brother sought

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities arrested a Tallahassee man and are seeking his brother for the shooting and beating of a victim on Dent Street.

D' Andre Montana McKenzie, 23, was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Friday and released from jail Saturday on a $30,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. 
 
His half-brother, Andre K. McKenzie, is facing a charge of attempted pre-meditated homicide. His location is unknown, according to a probable cause affidavit. 
 
On Nov. 6, 2018, Tallahassee Police Department officers found the victim, Malcolm Shabazz, lying on the front porch of a Dent Street residence.
 
Shabazz had gunshots to his back, a thigh and an arm. His injuries were once described as life-threatening, but later the hospital listed him in stable condition.

 Victim identified in Dent Street shooting in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department has released the name of the victim in Tuesday's shooting on Dent Street. 

38-year-old Malcolm Shabazz has been identified as the victim by TPD. 

At this time, investigators are still interviewing all known witnesses and processing the evidence collected from the scene.

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Another shooting investigation is underway in Tallahassee. 

Tallahassee Police were called to Dent Street, just off Old Bainbridge Road around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, where they found one person shot.  

That victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but is now in stable condition. 

"Everyone needs to have a change of heart since the shooting that has gone on doesn't need to happen at all. There is no reason why our city should be put on a map as far as shooting or anything like that, so we just ask everyone please talk out your differences," said TPD Officer Damon Miller. "If you have differences at all or if you need any help you can call us, we have victim advocates at TPD and other services that our provided if you are going through something, but just acts of violence need to stop."  

No word yet from TPD on any arrests or a motive.

According to Tallahassee Police, officers were called to the 600 block of Dent Street around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday morning. 

On-scene, officers found one unidentified person shot. That victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
