TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Even the Tallahassee Police Department receives scam emails.

The Tallahassee Police Department says that people are receiving fraudulent emails posing as Amazon that contain harmful links.

They say that while the emails look very official, they are actually from cyber criminals looking to rip you off.

The email pretending to be authored by Amazon is not the only spoofed email making the rounds, but officers say the goals are the same: to a) steal your credentials and b) potentially infect your electronic device with malware.

Officers are reminding people to pay attention to the little details, like misspellings and the sender's email address.

They are reminding you that if you are in doubt, TPD will gladly help you out. If you have received a suspicious email, call TPD at 850-891-4200.

Amazon also has a page that allows customers to report such phishing schemes. Click here to access it.
