TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is remembering and honoring a sergeant killed in the line of duty 16 years ago in an ambush while responding to a home-invasion robbery.

On November 13, 2002, Sergeant Daniel 'Dale' Green saw a suspicious car and called in a description before he was fatally shot four times.

The suspect was arrested and convicted of Green's murder in 2004 and sentenced to life in prison.

Not far from police headquarters, a street was renamed in Green's memory. TPD said he will always be remembered.

"There's very few people that talk the talk and walk the walk, but he did. I mean Dale was a man who completely had his priorities in order," said Major Lawrence Revell. "I mean God first, his family, and his job and he loved all three deeply."

Green served 13 years with TPD and is survived by his wife and three children.
